Who can use Sole Mates
You need to be 13 or older. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you. One account per person, please.
Your account
You sign in with Apple, or with your email address and a code we send. Keep your phone, Apple Account and email secure, because anyone using them can use your Sole Mates account. You’re responsible for what happens on your account.
Names and usernames
Your first name, last initial and @username are visible to other people on Sole Mates. Don’t use slurs, threats, other people’s names or anything meant to offend or mislead. Group names, which everyone in the group sees, follow the same rules. We may change or remove a name that breaks these terms.
Play fair
Sole Mates is only fun when the steps are real. Don’t add steps by hand, use devices or apps that fake steps, or tamper with the app or your data. Steps typed into Apple Health by hand don’t count. We may remove steps or accounts that look faked. Challenge results are final once they’re announced, even if steps sync late.
Be kind
Don’t harass, threaten or impersonate anyone. You can block anyone, and you can report them from the same menu. We review reports and may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms.
Your health
Sole Mates is for fun and motivation. It isn’t medical advice, and step counts can be wrong. Talk to a doctor before you change how much you exercise, especially if you have a health condition. Stop if something hurts. Pay attention to where you’re walking, and never use Sole Mates while driving. You use Sole Mates at your own risk, and you’re responsible for your own safety.
Your data
Your steps and profile are yours. You let us use them to run Sole Mates, for example to show your steps to friends you’ve accepted and to people in challenges you join. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how to delete it.
Our app
We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use Sole Mates on an iPhone you own or control, as Apple’s App Store rules allow. Please don’t copy it, reverse-engineer it, overload it or use it to build a competing service. If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything.
Changes and ending
We may change, add or remove features, or stop running Sole Mates. We’ll give notice in the app where we can. You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms.
Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for Sole Mates or its content, and has no duty to provide support for it. If you got Sole Mates from the App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and Apple and its subsidiaries can enforce these terms as third-party beneficiaries. If Sole Mates fails to meet a warranty that applies by law, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund what you paid for it, if anything; Apple has no other warranty duty for Sole Mates. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability, legal compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims. You confirm that you’re not in a country under a US government embargo, and not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
No warranty
Sole Mates is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. Step counts come from Apple Health and your devices, and they can be wrong, late or missing. We don’t promise that Sole Mates will always be available or free of errors.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits. Our total liability for any claim about Sole Mates is limited to $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Disputes
If you have a problem, email us first and we’ll try to sort it out within 30 days. These terms are governed by California law. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Alameda County, California, though either of us can use small claims court.
If you break these terms
If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these terms or the law while using Sole Mates, you’ll cover our reasonable costs from that claim, including lawyers’ fees, as far as the law allows.
The rest
These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Sole Mates. If a court decides part of them can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a part right away, we haven’t given it up. You can’t transfer these terms to someone else; we can, if Sole Mates moves to a new owner. The parts that should last after your account ends, such as No warranty, Limits on our liability, If you break these terms and Disputes, still apply after it ends.
Changes to these terms
If we make an important change, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Sole Mates afterwards, the new terms apply.
